HOPE IN THE WATER

“Hope in the Water” is the follow up story of “Halfeti, Hope and Misfortune”, which was the story of the flooded land at upper Mesopotamia filmed between 1998 and 2001. The Director of the documentary, Kerime SENYUCEL found the same people 7 years later. Then she told the new story of the Dam which is going to be built on the same area, the Ilisu Dam on the Tigris River. This documentary is far more than being just a dam’s story. There’s the new life of Emine, who had the only magnolia tree in the town; the coffee house owner Serif, who became a tourism executive; the heroic acts of  Ahmet the Shepherd from Hasankeyf; their prayers, songs, fights, laughter, and love. “Hope in the Water” is the story of Turkey’s struggle on the conveying of water to the remotest area of the country.
